Summary
The Children's Nutrition Research Center at Baylor College of Medicine is one of six USDA human nutrition research centers conducting scientific investigations designed to provide Americans with a clear understanding of the role of nutrition in maintaining a healthy, active life. As the first federal nutrition research center to investigate the nutritional needs of pregnant and nursing women and children from conception through adolescence, the CNRC conducts research that helps define guidelines for maternal, infant and childhood nutrition.
Job Duties
- Frame research questions, research design and methods, and project implementation.
- Learn and become experts at research techniques involved in your projects and, when appropriate, to develop and establish methods of research, testing and data collection, analysis and evaluation, and writing reports containing descriptive, analytical and evaluative content.
- Within the predetermined research scope and methodology, conduct research experiments in the field of Nutrition Science. Will require the exercise of independent discretion and judgment in carrying out research activities within the predetermined research scope and methodology.
- Collect and analyze data, including periodical/literature search and utilizing specialized skills in related field to analyze the collected data.
- Demonstrate proficiency in scientific/manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals, grant writing, poster and oral presentations.
- May attend conferences and seminars.
Minimum Qualifications
- Ph.D. (from either basic science or clinical research programs) and M.D. (e.g., physicians in residency training) level trainees.
