Postdoctoral Research Associate in Spatial Omics
- Yale University
- Location: New Haven, CT
- Job Number: 7072854
- Posting Date: Dec 4, 2020
- Application Deadline: Open Until Filled
Job DescriptionSiyuan (Steven) Wang's lab at Yale is seeking highly motivated postdoctoral research fellows interested in the rapidly expanding field of spatial genomics and 4D nucleome.
Research in our lab focuses on the development and application of state-of-the-art imaging-based omics approaches to understand the spatial organization of mammalian genome and transcriptome, and how they impact cellular states. Recent advances include the development of the first highly multiplexed and automated imaging method to trace the spatial folding of genome, and to profile the abundance and single-molecule localizations of hundreds-to-thousands of different RNA species in individual cells (Science 2016, Science 2015, Molecular Cell, 2020, Nature Communications 2020, Trends in Cell Biology 2020). As one of the leading labs in this field, we are well funded with $9M through four NIH mechanisms received in 2019-2020. We have established a very dynamic and productive lab culture, and have 6 papers published or under review this year, despite the current small size of the lab (5 lab members till summer 2020) and the Covid-19 lockdown.
The postdoctoral fellow will actively engage in further development of this set of advanced techniques and/or the application of these techniques to different biomedical investigations. Individuals with expertise in any one of the following areas are strongly encouraged to apply: 1) sequencing-based omics technology development; 2) light microscopy and optical instrumentation; 3) molecular and cellular biology with mammalian/clinical cell culture or tissue.
We expect successful candidates to have strong academic background and publication record, at the level of being able to compete in postdoctoral fellowship competitions in the US, although successful fellowship competition is not required for the renewal of the appointment.
The position is renewable annually, with immediate start availability.
To apply, please send your CV and cover letter with a description of previous research, and have three letters of recommendation sent to firstname.lastname@example.org
