Full time position for a Bioinformatics Postdoctoral Associate to join an interdisciplinary team of computational biologists, clinicians, and ontologists who are working together to develop machine-learning and semantic algorithms for the analysis of clinical data. The position is located at the Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine in Farmington, CT
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who will take a hands-on, problem-solving approach to clinical machine-learning, collegial work environment that is infused with intellectual rigor. The right candidate will have an outstanding academic record and strong communication skills, will demonstrate innovative and analytical thinking, and will enjoy working as part of the CTSA National Center for Data to Health (CD2H; https://ctsa.ncats.nih.gov/cd2h/). The new National Center for Data to Health (CD2H), a multi-institutional consortium led by OHSU, has been awarded a $25 million grant from the National Institutes of Health to support the use of health data, algorithms and information systems to bridge basic science and clinical research and to foster collaboration across more than 50 medical research institutions within the national Clinical and Translational Science Awards network.
- Work with CD2H researchers to develop novel algorithms for clinical machine learning tasks
- Apply existing and novel algorithms to clinical data sets, analyze data quality, critically review and analyze results, communicate results to team members
- Contribute to scientific writing and creation of data figures to be included in research publications.
- Ph.D. in a field related to bioinformatics, computational biology, or computer science. Strong programming skills and experience in computational data analysis (e.g. using any of Java, Python, R, or C++)
- Depending on the experience of the successful candidate, the emphasis of the project will be on developing a cloud-based framework for clinical machine learning, novel algorithm development, or both
- English language fluency
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
- 1 year of experience required
