Job DescriptionTwo NIH-funded postdoctoral fellow positions are available in the laboratory of Dr. Andrey Tsvetkov in the Department of Neurology, The University of Texas McGovern Medical School at Houston (UTHealth).
The laboratory carries basic and translational research, investigating molecular mechanisms of aging and age-associated neurodegenerative disorders. UTHealth is a part of the Texas Medical Center (TMC), the largest medical center in the world, which includes several leading biomedical research institutions, including MD Anderson Cancer Center, Baylor College of Medicine, Rice University, and other institution recognized worldwide as for their advanced neuroscience programs. The Tsvetkov lab is a part of the BRAINS Research Laboratory, funded by over a dozen of R01 grants, with expertise on stroke, aging, inflammation, sex-associated differences in neurodegeneration, Alzheimer’s disease, and Huntington’s disease.
The first project focuses on molecular mechanisms of Huntington’s disease regulated by nuclear phospholipids using cultured primary neurons, mouse models, and novel imaging techniques.
The second project focuses on the molecular mechanisms of autophagy in human neurons.
Potential side projects include (1) regulation of neuronal chromatin structure by G-quadruplex DNA; (2) translational research in chemotherapy-associated brain damage.
We are seeking recent graduates with a Ph.D. in neuroscience, cell biology, molecular biology, or other relevant fields. Preference will be given to US citizens, permanent residents, and individuals currently located in the US. To apply, please send a CV and a cover letter describing your previous work and career goals, a putative starting date, and the contact information for three references to email@example.com
