We are looking for a talented and motivated computer scientist to join our team as a postdoctoral researcher to develop computational models for understanding regulatory mechanisms from genomics data.
Review of candidates will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.
The candidate’s appointment will be in the computational biology group led by Dr. Md. Abul Hassan Samee in the Department of Molecular Physiology and Biophysics at the Baylor College of Medicine (email@example.com). The Samee Lab develops computational algorithms utilizing state of the art machine learning and statistical inference tools to answer questions in regulatory genomics, especially mechanistic questions that relate to human physiology and disease. The lab has a track record in modeling protein-DNA binding, transcriptional regulation, and comparative genomics data; and is currently developing novel methods for analyzing and modeling datasets on single-cell transcriptomics, chromatin conformation, and interaction between extra- cellular signaling and transcriptional regulatory networks. There will be ample opportunities for the candidate to collaborate with experimental biology groups in the department of Molecular Physiology and Biophysics and validate their computational discoveries directly on mouse models.
PhD in Computer Science/Bioinformatics/Computational Biology or any biomedical discipline with proficiency in programming and computational method development.
Candidates who will be graduating soon can also apply and will receive equal consideration.
Programming experience in Python and R.
Experience in scientific manuscript writing.
To apply for this position please apply online and also email a cover letter, curriculum vitae, and contact information for at least three references.
