Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, home to three Nobel laureates, is an independent, nonprofit research institute based in Seattle. Its interdisciplinary teams of world-renowned scientists seek new and innovative ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer, HIV/AIDS and other life-threatening diseases.
A newly-established experimental hematopoiesis laboratory at FHCRC is seeking to recruit a post-doctoral fellow to work on a collaborative project with Abdel-Wahab lab at MSKCC investigating new treatment approaches to myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) in pre-clinical models. In addition, a successful candidate will be involved in other projects which extend PIs post-doctoral work (Silberstein et al, Cell Stem Cell 2016, Goncalves, Silberstein et al, Cell 2016), and aim to understand how niche-derived regulators protect hematopoietic stem cells from proliferative stress and promote hematopoietic regeneration.
The candidate will be part of a Stem Cell and Gene Therapy Program at the Fred Hutch and interact closely with other laboratories within the Program which focus on gene therapy, early hematopoietic development and cellular reprogramming. The candidate will be supported and encouraged to develop ideas and apply for post-doctoral fellowships.
The candidate is expected to have a PhD in the biological sciences and/or MD, a strong interest in stem cell research, and an expertise in molecular biology, flow cytometry, cell biology or imaging. Previous experience of working with mice is not essential, but would be preferred. Proficiency in written and verbal English is required.
A cover letter explaining interest in the position and a list of three references are required.
