The Abazeed laboratory at Cleveland Clinic has an immediate opening for highly motivated individualswith expertise in genomic and machine learning informatics. Thisposition is supported by multi-sourced grants.
Fellow will lead the design and implementation of data analysis projects addressing fundamental biological questions about the causes and consequences of inter- and intra-tumoral genetic variation in cancer. These projects involve integrated analysis of high-volume genomic, epigenomic, and gene expression data (next-generation sequencing – WES/WGS, RNA-seq, Bisulfite-seq, etc.). Successful candidate will work independently and take a leading role in data analysis, interpretation, and visualization, and drafting of manuscripts for publication.
This position offer a competitive salary and stimulating work environment, with opportunities for advancement. The Cleveland Clinic offers highly competitive salaries, a robust benefits package and a collegial work environment.
Recent PhDs in computer science, bioinformatics, computational biology, and related fields will be considered. A strong background in statistics, and programming experience in a UNIX/Linux environment using programming languages such as Perl are required. Experience in high-throughput analysis of next-generation sequencing data and familiarity with widely-used genomic databases and software are advantageous.
Candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be capable of working within a team of biologists and programmers. No biological background is required, but the ideal candidate will have some familiarity with genetics and genomics. This opportunity could present an outstanding training experience for someone with a solid computer science background who wishes to break into bioinformatics.
