Lifespan is a seeking a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in the field of Radiotherapy Physics for the Radiation Oncology Department at Rhode Island Hospital, Brown University. The position is funded by a grant examining, the use of Multileaf Collimation for Static and Modulated Electron Radiotherapy.
The candidate will hold a doctoral degree in Medical Physics, Physics Biomedical Engineering, or other field related to Medical Physics. The candidate is expected to have a record of publications, and must excel at oral and written communication. Candidates should also be eligible for part one of the American Board of Radiology medical physics examination. Additional preferred experience includes; programming, modeling, data analysis, and dosimetric measurements. Familiarity with TOPAS (Monte Carlo) is desirable.
At Rhode Island Hospital (main facility) we treat 100 patients per day. We currently have eight radiation oncologists, and ten faculty/staff physicists, including computational support. Equipment includes; Varian TrueBeam STx with ExacTrac, Varian Trilogy Accelerator with OBI & Align RT, Varian iX Accelerator with OBI, Accuray CyberKnife Radiosurgery, Gamma Knife Perfexion Radiosurgery, Elekta & Varian HDR Brachytherapy, Varian Eclipse & Phillips Pinnacle TPS RaySearch RayStation (2018).
The physics group runs a CAMPEP accredited residency program, and also a CAMPEP accredited Medical Physics Graduate Program. The fellow has great opportunities again involved with academic pursuits in the department. Klein, Ph.D., Chief of Medical Physics, Rhode Island Hospital and Professor of Radiation Oncology, Brown University.
