Postdoctoral Position or Research Associate Position in the field of non-coding RNA and cancer biology is open in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Medical College of Wisconsin
A postdoctoral position is available in the lab of Dr. Pradeep Chaluvally-Raghavan in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Medical College of Wisconsin to study the role of long and short non-coding RNAs, EGF and Notch signaling in breast and ovarian cancers. Publications related to our research are entitled “Copy Number Gain of hsa-miR-569 at 3q26.2 Leads to Loss of TP53INP1and Aggressiveness of Epithelial Cancers” in Cancer Cell 2014 and “Direct upregulation of STAT3 by microRNA-551b-3p deregulates growth and metastasis of ovarian cancer” in Cell Reports 2016.
The candidate must be highly motivated, independent and interested in our projects. The candidate must have PhD in molecular biology, cell biology or a cancer related field. Although not absolutely necessary, the ideal candidate will preferably have some experience with epigenetics, microRNA or cancer biology. Expertise in microarray analysis, RT-PCR, ChIP, cloning, immunofluorescence mouse husbandry, in vivo tumor experiments are also a plus. The successful candidate will of course have mentoring so that career goals can be achieved, but must be able to independently generate hypotheses, design experiments to test the hypothesis, performs routine and difficult procedures, analyze data and coherently present results in the form of presentations, abstracts, manuscripts and the basis for grant writing, preparation and submission.
Successful, well-motivated candidates will join a highly interactive, interdisciplinary team of researchers with diverse backgrounds and expertise in a collaborative scientific environment. Preference will be given to individuals with these skill sets who are now completing their thesis work or 1-2 years of postdoctoral experiences and have at least one high-impact publication.
