The Advanced Microsystems Radiation Effects and Analysis Department is seeking a Postdoctoral Appointee to conduct leading edge research, development, testing, modeling, and prototyping of new radiation hardened microsystems technologies, devices, manufacturing processes, and hardness assurance methods. YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: + Testing the response of various advanced microsystems to harsh radiation environments. Obtain test samples and develop test boards and test programs for data collection. Travel to remote test sites for test campaigns several times per year. Summarize and present findings. + Developing device and circuit models and develop tools for use in established design flows to predict and understand the radiation response of complex microsystems. Run simulations, analyze results, compare to test data, and present results. + Partnering with radiation effects, materials, process, and device scientists across departments to research and develop effective hardening methodologies and approaches to assuring performance of advanced heterogeneously integrated microsystems in harsh radiation environments. + Publishing results in journal articles and presenting at conferences. + This position requires the ability to travel frequently and to work safely around radiation producing devices.
+ Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Plasma Physics, Materials or Nuclear Science or related fields. + Undergraduate degree in STEM. + Experience with radiation experimentation and modeling research in semiconductor systems as evidenced by publications, patents, and conference presentations.
+ Knowledge of typical semiconductor electrical characterization equipment. + The desire and ability to write papers for publication in refereed journals. + Organizational skills as well as the ability to interact well in a team environment.
The Advanced Microsystems Radiation Effects and Analysis team develops, integrates, characterizes, and assures the radiation hardness of advanced microsystems technologies for the nation's nuclear deterrence mission.
