Job Description
Argonne’s Transportation and Power Systems (TAPS) Division seeks a post-doctoral research engineer experienced in decarbonized prime mover and fuel technologies.
The successful candidate will support the project Principal Investigator in designing, performing, and analyzing experiments to be conducted on single-cylinder heavy-duty research engines. The research will be focused on testing of alternative low and net-zero carbon fuels for rail, marine, and off-road applications. The research will be predominantly experimental in nature and require some knowledge of 1-D modeling. The position’s role is in the Advanced Power Systems Research (APSR) group of the Advanced Propulsion and Power Department of the TAPS Division, and reports to the APSR Group Leader.
Position Requirements
Ph.D. Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field.
Knowledge of internal combustion engines and engine testing.
Knowledge of data acquisition systems and emissions equipment.
Knowledge of prime mover technologies, energy use, and life-cycle environmental impacts.
Skills using Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).
Skilled oral and written communication skills at all levels of the organization.
Ability to work in a team environment.
