Job Description
Nanostructured Polymer Materials Theory Lab (http://unist.ac.kr/professor/kimju/) is looking for a Postdoctoral Researcher to work on polymer physics theory. In this lab, various polymer physics subjects are available. Among others, computational Self-Consistent Field Theory (SCFT) has been the major tool for the investigation of mesoscale (1nm ~ 100 nm) polymeric structures.
The postdoctoral researcher will be responsible for the development and improvement of SCFT method. In this method, the polymer density is calculated by solving modified diffusion equations, but prior knowledge of this method is not required. Those who have a strong background in statistical physics and computational method will be valid candidates.
The creation of nanometer scale structure using polymer materials is a very active area. Academically, the subject has been highly prolific in publication. In addition, industrial research projects are increasing because of its potential use for VLSI manufacturing process. Recently, as a result of a Theory/Experiment collaboration with Prof. Sang Ouk Kim at KAIST, the paper "One-Dimensional Metal Nanowire Assembly via Block Copolymer Soft Graphoepitaxy" is accepted for publication in Nano Letters (Co-corresponding Author).
The salary starts around 30 million KRW. (As of July 28, ~ 25,350 USD). This amount is enough for a family to make a comfortable living in South Korea. The salary is negotiable depending on the applicant’s background and ability. The contract will be reviewed after the first year, and extension is expected for those who are reasonably productive. Consideration of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled during fall 2010.
To apply, please send an e-mail containing your CV to jukim@unist.ac.kr. Please make sure your CV includes a list of publications and the information of three references.
