We are seeking applicants with strong backgrounds that would allow easy transition into our lab that works on Brain Machine Interfacing (BMI). This would include experience in neurophysiology, computer science, biomedical engineering and animal training. We utilize both rodent and non-human primate models. Our present project has the aim of generating an inSilico sensorimotor control system that will interact with an animal user of a BMI. The BMI that we are generating utilizes force and kinimatic information gathered from recording from hundreds of microelectrodes implanted in the sensorimotor cortical regions. In addition we use fNIRS and EEG recordings to span the multiple levels of neural information. This position will allow a great deal of growth and open the individual to several new techniques that are being developed in our lab, such as a reinforcement learning based BMI architecture. Please contact the PI Joseph T. Francis if you feel that you fit within our group. Thanks. Joe
