Job Description
The Program of Public Health at the University of California, Irvine, invites applications for a postdoctoral scholar position in air pollution epidemiological research, particularly investigating how exposure to ambient air pollution during pregnancy affects risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes based on a large birth registry dataset. Research will include statistically analyze the impact of various air pollution exposure measures (e.g. air pollution measurements, land-use regression modeling, dispersion modeling, regional airshed modeling) with adverse pregnancy outcomes and investigate the effect modifications by socioeconomic status, obesity and other factors.
Candidates should have knowledge of epidemiology and biostatistics and must have a Ph.D. in a related field (e.g., Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Environmental Health Sciences). Candidates should have experience with statistical analysis of large datasets for epidemiological studies. Experience with air pollution, pregnancy outcomes, and/or exposure estimation is preferred. Knowledge of R or SAS is required; knowledge of both is preferred. Written and verbal fluency in English is required. Candidates should be self motivated and have the ability to work independently and in group settings.
The position is for initially for one year, with the possibility of extension to an additional year upon mutual agreement. The start date is Fall 2010.
