Job Title:  Postdoctoral Opening in Quantitative Imaging for Systems Biology
Job Number:  4007649
Date Posted:  07/08/2010
Application Deadline: Open Until Filled

Job Description

One position is available immediately to develop methods that advance our mechanistic and systems-level understanding of virus and host cellular processes during virus infections. Our research is playing a defining role in the Wisconsin Institutes for Discovery, a major public- and private-sponsored initiative to promote cross-disciplinary research for societal benefit (see www.discovery.wisc.edu). Our studies combine highly quantitative cell- and virus-culture experiments with models and simulations of virus growth and infection spread. Current experiments aim to link intracellular measures of virus growth with dynamic imaging of virus and cellular GFP reporters in spatially spreading infections. This NIH-supported project involves close collaboration among engineers, computer scientists and molecular biologists. Applicants with a strong background in microscopy and quantitative imaging are especially encouraged to apply. Madison, Wisconsin is an attractive and affordable city surrounded by beautiful lakes. Among US cities, Madison routinely ranks among the “best places to live,” and residents thrive on its diversity of outdoor and cultural opportunities. Candidates should send a single PDF that includes cover letter, CV, and contact information for three referees to Dr. John Yin by email: yin@engr.wisc.edu
